Welcome to the Bakersfield Community Church of the Brethren, the place where all are welcome to follow Jesus according to His word. We practice the principles of the New Testament church in following Jesus and the scriptures that teach the following four principals: (1) teach the word of God; (2) fellowship together; (3) eat together (meals and communion) and (4) spend quality time in prayer. We have some of the best singing this side of heaven. The church is made up from a diverse group of Christian people, including a good number of retired school teachers and administrators. Our focus this year is placed on growing both spiritual and adding new members. As we lift up the name of Jesus, we have God's promise that He will add to the church daily as the people in the community are being saved. Our church hosts two worship services each Sunday--a traditional morning service at 10:45 AM and a less structured Sunday evening "Jesus Celebration" at 6:30 PM. We also have Sunday Christian Education classes for all ages at 9:30 AM; we have choir rehearsal on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM. Additionally, we have a men's fellowship group, a women's fellowship group, an exercise class for women, youth activities and intergenerational programs at Christmas and Easter. Through these and other activities, we can execute the four-fold mandate described earlier, for the glory of God and His kingdom.
